Need evidence for a debate: Guyren and teens are exposed to much worse mature content in the media.? I have to debate why the book Catcher in the Rye should not be banned. One of my arguments is that guyren and teens are exposed to much worse mature content in the media. I'm not sure what my proof/evidence should be though. Would appreciate any ideas for this! Thanks. |
| Talk about teen dramas like degrassi or skins. Or reality celebrity dating shows, things like that. THE JERSEY SHORE. Just watch tv for a couple hours, you'll find lots of evidence. |

How are New York City teens different than California teens? Or compare any two American locations' teens. As we know, teens are molded by pop culture, which is widespread due to modern technology. Yet, can you notice any differences in teen culture? Like, I noticed that Baltimore suburbian blacks generally don't use the n-word as much as other blacks. No data, just an observation
now, it may be hard to determine some differences unless your observant and frequently travel around america while being exposed to teens. but give me what you got |
Teens from NY dream of moving to Cali and teens from Cali dream of moving to NYC.
My best friend recently moved to Cali, and he always tells me how all the guys in his school want to move to NYC with their little boyfriends/girlfriends. And that's how it is here in NY (I don't live in the city exactly. Long Island, but I don't imagine they'd be too different in th city.) |
Can being exposed to cold weather for long periods of time daily kill sperm cells? I work outside everyday in sometimes temperature that deep into the teens can be exposed to this type of weather on a daily basis effect sperm cell count? |
| No but I suggest you move, seriously I can bearly handle the 60 and 50 degree California winter, teens? evidently, there is nothing wrong with your ball size, anyone that works out in the cold has got bigger balls then me. |
My teens were exposed to mumps recently for about 4 days. Is there a possibility that they will have mumps too They had their MMR vaccine when they were young. Is there an incubation period? |
There is a very good possibility they will develop mumps, which is highly contagious, and to which there is no foolproof vaccination for.
But, on the positive note, better to get it now than later, for two reasons.
#1: Once you've had it, that's it. You are forever immune to the disease afterwards.
#2: The younger you get it, the easier it is to deal with. Mumps is a "guyrens disease" much like the measles and chicken pox, and young immune systems can handle it a lot better than when you get older. Mumps in adulthood can produce a ton of unfavourable side-effects, such as bronchitis, tonsilitis, and larynx disfiguration. All nasty conditions in adulthood as well.
Better to get it now, then suffer from it immensely later. |
Don't you hate it when teens post exposed pictures on facebook? Like this:
sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-s…
Yeah, it's not my life or page or anything. But I kinda know this girl in real life, and she DEFINITELY photoshopped her boobs and her stomach. And that's not her real hair at all...
IDK I find it so annoying when people do things like this. And no, I'm not going to "delete" her. Am I the only one? |
I don't hate it. I dislike it. It's stupid how some teens complain about drama, yet they start half of it. I
Like, hello. If you don't want something to happen DON'T cause it. She's only hurting herself by doing that. Talk about a year of humilation. Oh, and it's just disgusting. She just damaged her reputation. |
Do teens really have it rough these days? Besides the few who have real problems, does the average american middle class teenager have it just so hard these days?
I've seen too much crap about being just so emotional and how people who dont understand them are just not open minded enough...when obviously they are the ones with maturity issues.
Teens are exposed to more now, and life is competitive for school and future careers, etc. but in their daily lives...what is the deal with the "i am so depressed, life is so hard" |
| Yeah. Bullying, peer pressure, personal stuff. Although, people just make those things worse by encouraging it. |
Does any one know how many advertisements an average american exposed to in the course of one day? My only dated source suggested that an american teen was exposed to 3000 adverts a day, but that was more than nine years ago. Please include your reference with your answer.
Thanks |
| Interesting question. Very problematic. First, who or what is an "average" American? Second, what constitutes an "exposure" to advertising? Third, Do you count multiple exposures to the same ad? (For example, there is a billboard I drive by at least a dozen times a day, as well as a sign that says "gas" at the station on the corner. There is also an annoying pop up that I fight every time Yahoo boots.) Considering that the internet is full of ads, many of which are embedded in the sidebars, and most of which I consciously ignore, I doubt the number is as low as you suggest. I doubt that anyone has actually done a valid study of this topic in the recent past. The main problem remains, who or what is an "average" American? |
Are there any statistics on how music exposure is beneficial to teens? What are the benefits of a teen being exposed to music they've never heard before? Its for a project that i'm doing i'm trying to start a music club where you talk about music and share mix cd's |
There was a study recently, that I saw mentioned on C>N>N.
They found that guyren and teens that took music in some form or another, were more well adjusted than those that did not take music.
Look it up on the net I am sure you will find more information.
Added note:- Any new thing learned, is beneficial. Even adding to your choice of music is beneficial, because you are not staying in a little box with your mind on one type of music. Discovering, investigating, listening, is all good for the mind.
Keep trying all kinds of music as time goes on. All music is wonderful, even though to me, some isnt easy to listen to.
Your mind will keep growing as long as you keep learning and listening to new "stuff". It is when one stops, that one gets old and the brain stops growing. Look it up on the net also, you will find that this is a fact of life. Don't forget what you choose to do, is good for YOU. Let go of if it is good for you or not. Enjoy it. |
